Teach ESL with Technology
A website and multimedia resources created with Wix for online ESL instructors. The purpose was to create a learning community and database for instructors to learn and share their experiences teaching ESL students with various different educational technologies. Responsibilities: research, website design & development, e-learning design, video development & editing, and assessment development. Tools used: Wix, Screencast-o-matic, Powtoons, and Google Slides.
The problem
With the increase in popularity of online learning, ESL instructors of newcomers were finding it challenging to find information and update their knowledge of effective technology use in the classroom specific to second language acquisition.
The solution
After consulting and collaborating with an ESL instructor and SME, I decided to develop a learning hub website which includes curated resources for bringing educational technology into the ESL classroom. I designed and developed presentations, a list of curated links and materials, prepared a forum where instructors can share stories, activities, ideas, or experiences with each other, and materials to help assess whether the technology instructors are using in the classroom is effective.
