Engagement For Adult Learners In Online Environments
A demo course created for masters students in Brightspace LMS. Includes 5 lessons about increasing engagement for adult learners in online environments including topics such as building an online community and gamification. Responsibilities included research, instructional design, content development and basic LMS administration. Tools used: Brightspace LMS and Microsoft Word
The problem
Find an engaging way to present on the topic of engagement for adult learners in online environments while including key topics such as gamification in discussion boards and building online communities.
The solution
The solution was to create a presentation that was both informative and demonstrative at the same time. Utilizing the research we conducted, we developed a course in Brightspace to showcase activities for increasing engagement in asynchronous courses housed in learning management systems. Learners were enrolled in the course as students and were able to see the different engagement activities in action.
