Learning Theories For Adult Learners In Online Environments

A snippet of a course created for adult learners in Moodle LMS. This sample Includes part of Module 2 and introduces the VARK theory of preferential learning.  Responsibilities included research, instructional design, content and interactivity development and LMS administration. Tools used: Moodle, H5P, Canva, ScreenPal.

The problem

Find an engaging way to present on the topic of learning theories to adult learners in online environments while including knowledge checks, self-assessments, and reflection-based learning.

 

The solution

The solution was to create a Moodle course that was both informative and interactive. Utilizing the research conducted, I developed a course in Moodle to help learners embark on a self-discovery journey where they not only learned about different learning theories, but discovered their own strengths and weaknesses and explored strategies to improve their study habits based on what they learned about themselves. Various activities were used to touch upon the different learning styles so participants could see the theories being learned in action.
