Netiquette

An asynchronous course created in Articulate Storyline for students new to the virtual learning environment. The purpose was to demonstrate appropriate virtual classroom behaviours using scenario-based learning.  Responsibilities included storyboard development, graphics editing, and e-learning development. Tools used: Articulate Storyline, Inkscape, and Microsoft Word.

The problem

With the sudden shift to online learning brought on by COVID-19, the client was looking for an interactive course for onboarding new virtual students. The netiquette guidelines were established by a group of program managers and needed to be included in the course.

 

The solution

The solution was to create a short interactive course with Articulate Storyline using scenario-based learning. Students follow along a character, Alice, for her first virtual class and choose her behaviours based on the netiquette guidelines. Learning objectives were established using a backwards design approach.
