An asynchronous course created in Znanja, a course authoring platform. This micro-learning credential was designed for newcomers who are still learning English and want to upgrade their soft skills. Responsibilities: Instructional design, elearning development and LMS administration. Tools used: Znanja course-authoring, Znanja LMS, and Microsoft Word.
The problem
The organization had a suite of courses that they were offering to clients of the program. However, they had a number of clients whose English levels were not high enough to complete the advanced courses but who were interested in taking courses to update their soft skills.
The solution
After consulting and collaborating with an ESL instructor and SME, we decided to create a suite of micro-learning credentials for English language learners that were adapted from the original advanced curriculum. We transformed the content to be easy to understand and developed self-paced 1 hour courses that incorporated aspects of gamification, repetition, and virtual collaboration.
